“The Show Must Go On”

I’ve been a performer all of my life. I come from a dramatic and musical family, and so I was encouraged at every turn of childhood to “put on a show” for guests, and later, schools. I was in 11 theatre productions from 6th-12th grade; sang in choruses and small ensembles throughout high school and college; acted semi-professionally in theatre and national radio after college; and delivered three keynote addresses. I know the pressure of performing, and I know that a production often looks disastrous just before opening night.

Perhaps we artistic-types often live by the seat of our pants with coming up with new material or ways to perform; perhaps human nature dictates putting off preparing for the daunting task of being vulnerable in front of hundreds of people. Whatever the case, despite my own fears of being ill-prepared, our Juggle Jam will go on. The kids will be great, the audiences will be inspired, and our lives will be the better for it. Thank you for your kids’ loyalty to the process, to each other, and to me. The meaning of the show goes much deeper than two hours of juggling routines.
