[Back to Paul's Platform main selection page] Summer 2000 “Turn,
Turn, Turn”
I love the change of seasons. As a Minnesotan and a youth worker, I am keenly aware and appreciative of how my pace and focus changes throughout the calendar year. Like the weather, each "season" of life has its own set of strengths and weaknesses; life is kept in balance by these seasons. Juggle Jam 2000 is now history, and I believe that all of our hard work (and that of many parent volunteers) paid off in the kids' and audiences' experiences. As school year gives way to summer, extended time is available to rest, play, go to camp, and of course, juggle. I'll see see kids dozens of hours for extended camp time, and others won't be back 'til September. Statistically, I know that some of the Juggle Jam kids won't be back. While I'll miss them, I've learned that such turnover comes with the territory of youth. For however many seasons of weather and life that the Jugheads and I are allowed to be together, I am devoted to helping them develop as youth. Juggling just happens to be the tool. For those returning I September, you'll gladden my heart. For those choosing to not continue, I hope that the friendships, skills, values and fun experienced here will serve to improve your youth lives as you make many crucial life decisions in the years ahead.
