[Back to Paul's Platform main selection page] February 2001 “Peaks,
Valleys and Normalcy”
As long as I’ve been and will be called to remain in this unique position as a youth juggling program director, I have not tired of being thrilled at the retention of kids from year to year. Just the fact that I’ll be starting a high school club next fall is a dream come true, as I consider long-term relationships to be among the sweetest of life’s gifts. As I’ve stated in past Platforms, such a longing on my part stems from the fact that while I come from a large family, my dad and step-mom are the only ones who reside in the Twin Cities area. Therefore, I have a lot of love to give, and my years of youth work in Edina have helped to fill that void left by a family who have settled across the nation. Through my years of working with the same kids, we mutually experience the fullest relational gamut as is possible for non-family members. Events such as MONDO and Madison epitomize this relational depth, and such experiences serve to enhance this relationship-based program. Through thick and thin, highs and lows, peaks and valleys, we’ve stuck together, and the result is a wonderful normalcy of mutual trust and a safe place for kids to be kids.
