Summer 2002

“Summertime, and the livin’ is easy...”

I always enjoy the change of pace that summer brings. For me, it’s more intense in some ways, because I’m responsible for kids 7 straight hours a day through an energetic activity with less sleep (I’m not used to early work hours!). On the other hand, I enjoy the relative solitude of the 2nd floor at ECC, along with the quantity of time for each half-day camper to buckle down & focus as well as pace themselves in their juggling workout, rather than be pressured by time contraints such as getting here after school or getting home to do homework. While this is a wonderful way for me to make a living, my hope is that every kid signed up for one of the JUGHEADS summer camps makes the most of each day and enjoys this experience as a highlight of summer itself.

Sure, a juggling camp isn’t a family road trip and it isn’t Valleyfair. However, there’s something about being in this kid-friendly atmosphere that offers personal achievement and an increased sense of self-respect. This set-up appeals to youth of all skills (beginner to pro) and ages (3rd-12th grade). I eagerly anticipate the records, friendships and memories that will be made this summer!
