“Developing Juggling Through Youth”

The oft-used motto of JUGHEADS is “Developing Youth Through Juggling Since 1994” (see below). The meaning behind the motto is that juggling is the means to the end of developing youth. In other words, the real goal isn’t to train professional jugglers or to boast an average ability level which proves that we use our time well at club and camp. The real goal is character development in the lives of children and adolescents so that through juggling, their lives may be enriched and a wide array of character traits strengthened and honed. Such traits include work ethic, goal setting, honesty, teamwork, friendship, patriotism, commitment, loyalty, delayed gratification, obedience, and mentorship.

Turning our motto around, a fringe benefit of JH is that our youth develop the world of juggling. Whether or not any Jughead ever turns pro or continues this art and sport into adulthood, this community of youth have already made a mark on the history of juggling. Joggling world records, two Team Bronze Medals, Youth Showcase pioneers, promoters of girls in juggling, and the possibility of any kid juggling for up to 10 years in a row under the same director with the same core of peers make this company a model for juggling worldwide. As we enter our big “juggling season” (MadFest, MONDO, Juggle Jam, Buffalo), know that development is a two-way street for any Jughead involved here.
