[Back to Paul's Platform main selection page] December 2005 "Happy
Old Year! Hopeful New Year!"
Leaving aside
the debate between commercializing Christmas vs. annihilating Christmas
(as if the very mention of the word were taboo), I'll instead focus this
"holiday" edition of the newsletter on the soon-to-be Old Year
of 2005. As usual, our company attended MadFest, MONDO, and IJA, but very
unusual was our move to Colony Park Church, both in its scope and in the
surprise of retaining our company's size and quality (the latter being
arguably increased). In retrospect, JH had a "Happy Old Year!"
In fact, to pick on a seldom-scrutinized holiday, the phrase "Happy
New Year" is presumptuous, isn't it? Yes, it's a congenial wish,
but a more accurate wish would be "Hopeful New Year!" Hope,
by its very definition, is a derivative of faith. Everyone believes in
something: chance, self, fate, God. Grounded in my faith in God, I am
confidently hopeful for a happy 2006 for JUGHEADS. Wendy & I thank
you for supporting us in order to bless your kids.
