[Back to Paul's Platform main selection page] September 1999 “A Legendary
Honor”
Little did we know during Juggle Jam rehearsals that our efforts would capture the eye of I.J.A. Founder Art Jennings. Mr. Jennings is 86 years old, has seen it all in the juggling world, and honored our socks off with his I.J.A. Founder’s Award for “capturing the spirit of vaudeville.” More personally, perhaps Mr. Jennings sees in us the perpetuation of his legacy began in 1947 “to educate and render assistance to fellow jugglers” because we represent the newest generation of jugglers touched by the I.J.A. Although Art’s committee changed the award rules so we could win (despite our drops), Art admitted that our kids are better than most professionals of 50 years ago! This honor was an overwhelming endorsement of the efforts of JUGHEADS. With all the other things transpiring since May, we enter this school year holding heads & hopes high.
